Terms & Conditions
By submitting the entry form to apply for the role of an Ambassador for Meerkovo (the “Competition”), you accept the following terms and conditions, together with any other terms that are notified to you during the Competition process.
Please note that these terms and conditions may be amended or varied at any time without prior notice. Notice of any changes to these terms will be posted on www.meerkovo.com. It is your responsibility to ensure you review these terms and conditions regularly to familiarise yourself with any changes.
The expression Promoter refers to comparethemarket.com and comparethemeerkat.com which are trading names of BISL Limited, registered in England under company number 03231094, whose registered office is at, Pegasus House, Bakewell Road, Orton Southgate, Peterborough, PE2 6YS.
- Entry is open to UK residents excluding employees of the Promoter, third parties involved in the Competition and their families.
- Entrants must be at least 18 years of age at the time of entry.
- Entries submitted on behalf of third parties will not be accepted: entrants must enter the Competition themselves.
- No purchase is necessary.
- Entry to the Competition is made by completing the entry form online at www.meerkovo.com and uploading an optional video in support of the application on YouTube.
- Entries must be completed and submitted in English.
- The optional video must be no longer than two (2) minutes long and uploaded onto the entrant’s own YouTube page. Videos for which an incorrect link has been provided, or which are corrupted or damaged will not be considered in terms of the selection process. In addition to these terms and conditions, entrants must comply with YouTube’s own terms and conditions.
- Entries submitted in any other manner will not be accepted and only one entry per person is permitted.
- By submitting the video, entrants confirm (i) that they agree that their video may be displayed on www.meerkovo.com, Aleksandr’s social media accounts such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and used in general media as part of the promotion of the Competition and (ii) that they have the right to use any image(s) included in the video, and where applicable, have the permission of the copyright owner to use such image(s). Videos will not be returned.
- Any entries that are incomplete or suspected by the Promoter of containing false information will be deemed invalid. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any entries which are not received or are delayed, corrupted or damaged.
- Entries containing nudity, profanity, obscenity, poor sound and/or vision quality or are deemed by the Promoter to be of an offensive nature will not be considered.
- Entrants must be of good moral character and not be under the influence of any medication, drugs or other substance which may impair their ability to participate in the Competition or undertake the post of the Meerkovian Ambassador (the “Role”).
- Entrants will be notified that their applications have been received.
- All entries must be received by Wednesday 20th April 2011 17:00, after which the entries will be considered and 25 applicants who have demonstrated a clear understanding of the problems facing the village of Meerkovo, (“Candidate(s)”) will be chosen to participate in an extensive interview selection process (the “Interview”) which will include a formal interview with the judging panel. The judging panel members will include representatives from Good Relations Limited and an impartial recruitment consultant.
- The Candidate Interviews will take place in London between Tuesday 26 April and Thursday 28th April 2011. The Candidates will be notified of the time and date they will be required to attend the Interview via telephone and/or email by 25 April 2011. Failure to attend, lateness or any inappropriate behaviour will result in an automatic disqualification from the Competition.
- The Candidates will be responsible for making their own travel arrangements to the Interview and no expenses will be paid.
- After the Interview the judging panel will pick up to 6 Candidates who in its sole opinion demonstrate a clear understanding of the problems facing Meerkovo, outstanding communication skills, commitment and drive, in depth of knowledge and skills regarding social media and the creativity and ability to generate strong ‘campaignable’ ideas to communicate the issues facing Meerkovo, (the “Finalist(s)”) to proceed to the final stage of the Competition. The judges’ choice of the Finalists is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
- The Finalists will be notified on 3 May 2011 by telephone.
- All Candidates will be asked to agree to keep the interview questions and outcome confidential until such time as the Finalists are announced on www.meerkovo.com on 10 May 2011.
- The Finalists must be able to provide proof of their identity, eligibility to work in the UK, hold a full UK driving licence and authorise the Promoter to conduct such criminal, financial and other background checks as the Promoter deems necessary.
- The Finalists will be required to run their own mini campaigns using social media and other communications tools to demonstrate why they are the most suitable candidate for the Role.
- The public will vote for their favourite Finalist on www.meerkovo.com between Tuesday 10 May and Sunday 22 May 2011 5.00pm. If you vote after this time, your vote will not be counted.
- The Finalist with the highest number of votes will be the winner of the Competition (the “Ambassador”).
- The Ambassador will be notified by telephone on Monday 23 May and thereafter will be announced on www.meerkovo.com.
- The Ambassador must be available for a period of 6 months from Wednesday 1 June until Wednesday 30 November 2011 to assume the Role. The Role will be subject to separate terms and conditions, set out in a contract for services, which will be available at the Interview.
- The Promoter reserves the right to terminate the Role at any point.
- The Ambassador is responsible for making any necessary arrangements with their employer to ensure they are able to devote such time to the Role and fulfil such duties as the Promoter may require and to ensure that there is no conflict of interest.
- The Ambassador will be responsible for helping to raise awareness of Meerkovo in the UK through campaigning at high profile events, blogging and using social media over a period of 6 months.
- The Promoter reserves the right to monitor and edit material produced by the Ambassador during the engagement period.
- The Ambassador must be available at short notice, during the weekends, and be willing to undertake some travel within the UK to attend high profile events. The high profile events are subject to change.
- The Ambassador will be awarded a sum of £40,000.00 (forty thousand pounds) (gross) which will be paid in accordance with the terms of the contract for services.
- The Ambassador will at all times act responsibly, demonstrate good moral character, exercise reasonable skill, care and diligence in the performance of the Role, act in an appropriate and professional manner and not engage in any activity or undertaking which may bring into disrepute or cause damage to the reputation of the Promoter.
- The decision of the Promoter and the judging panel in all matters is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
- The Promoter will own all intellectual property in reports, diaries, blogs, photos and other material created by the entrants in the course of the Competition or by the Ambassador during the engagement.
- Information concerning entrants collected by the Promoter will only be used for the purpose of the administration of this Competition. Information may be passed to third parties where it is necessary for the purposes of the administration of this Competition or the fulfilment of the Role. Information will not be used for any other purpose. Information will not be retained by the Promoter for any longer than necessary for the proper administration of the Competition or the Role.
- The Finalists may and the Ambassador will be required to take part in publicity accompanying or resulting from the Competition, including the publication of videos, photographs, names and geographical locations on the internet and in the print media. Entering the Competition signifies the entrant’s consent to this.
- The participation in the Competition and the undertaking of the Role is entirely at the entrant’s own risk and all entrants agree that the Promoter will not be liable in respect of any damage, act, neglect, loss, default or omission resulting from the participation in the Competition. For the avoidance of doubt nothing in these terms and conditions excludes or limits the Promoter’s liability for death or personal injury resulting from its negligence.
